Time to Focus on the Men in Our Lives

According to the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation, testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men between the ages of 15 to 35. Monthly testicular self exams are important for early detection because when detected early, there is a survival rate of over 95%. Campaigns like Movember and No Shave November are some fun ways to raise awareness about prostate & testicular cancers as well as men’s mental health & fitness. Other ways you can get involved are to make a donation, sponsor a fundraiser, or volunteer. We are donating to the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation this month, but there are many organizations you can choose from.

We have compiled a great line-up of men’s products in our Body and Hair Care Products for Dad that get the job done without known or probable carcinogens, synthetic ingredients and other questionable ingredients.

Indoor Fun

Arts & crafts can be a fun way to spend time with your child indoors when it’s too cold or wet to go outside and play. Unfortunately many “non-toxic” arts and crafts aren’t really non-toxic. Check out our list of Non-Toxic Art Supplies for some safer options for you and your little one.

Bad Hair Day?

Our Leave-In Conditioner can also work as a detangler for a mess like this.

Sandwich Bread

We prefer to avoid potassium bromate, wood pulp and other questionable ingredients in store bought bread, so we make our own. Our Sandwich Bread is grain, dairy and refined sugar-free and is perfect for an occasional sandwich.

Stain Removers

Need help treating stains naturally? Here are our recipes for a Light Fabric Stain Remover and a Tough Fabric Stain Remover. If you’re not a do-it-yourselfer, Poofy Organics has a Laundry Pre-Spray you can buy.

Flu Shot Information

Here is information taken from the flu shot package inserts for the 2015-2016 season for pregnancy, nursing mothers and pediatric use.

Pregnancy

The Fluzone and Fluzone High-Dose inserts state:

“It is also not known whether [this vaccine] can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman or can affect reproduction capacity. [This vaccine] should be given to a pregnant woman only if clearly needed.”

The rest of the inserts state:

“There are, however, no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Because animal reproduction studies are not always predictive of human response, [this vaccine] should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.”

Nursing Mothers

All of the inserts except Fluzone High-Dose state:

“It is not known whether [this vaccine] is excreted in human milk. Because [many drugs or some viruses] are excreted in human milk, caution should be exercised when [this vaccine] is administered to a nursing woman.”
